Overview

Everest Three Passes Trekking an adventure that covers all parts of scenic areas of high Khumbu valley in close shades of towering Mt. Everest and range of high peaks, an exciting journey to experience once your lifetime.

Everest Three Passes Trekking leads to dynamic walks with ever-present views of snow-capped peaks and exploring the hidden corners of the Everest region, where only a few trekkers seldom or dares the challenge visiting remote pockets of Khumbu valley.

All three passes crossing leads to the dramatic scenery of wide mountain range with views of world four highest peaks that include Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu with Mt. Makalu in the east direction from high and last pass of Renjo-la.

Starting with a sweeping panoramic short flight to land at Lukla, a busy town and the gateway to various trekking adventures around high Khumbu within Everest, where the walk begins following a gradual path with some ups and downhill.

Where walk leads through interesting Sherpa villages decorated with interesting Buddhist religion monuments as walk heads higher to reach famous Namche Bazaar a great place for trekkers for overnights and rest days.

Namche Bazaar a colorful large village nearly a size of a town loaded with shops and stores includes various necessary facilities for visitors where once a week on Saturday busy market takes place.

From Namche heading much higher territory with the climb to scenic Tengboche and its impressive monastery surrounded within high snow-capped peaks with views of Mt. Everest and range of mountains in the harmony of green forest.

After Tengboche leaving green tree lines for arid and barren mountainous landscapes where first crossing takes you over high Kongma-la pass after pleasant overnights in Dingboche and Chukung settlement with beautiful Imjatse valley.

Crossing with care with a tough climb on top Kongma-la to reach Lobuche and then to Everest base camp within close to huge Khumbu Ice-Fall and glaciers then climb on top Kalapathar the highest spot of the adventure at 5,545 m for closet views of Mt. Everest and array of peaks.

Slowly walk takes you to cross the second pass of the adventure to traverse over high Cho-la pass to reach magnificent valley at Gokyo with its calm glacial lakes in the shade of Mt. Cho-Oyu enjoy the wonderful visit of Gokyo valley and then towards the last final pass of the adventure.

The climb takes you on top Renjo-la pass with a fantastic panorama of the high mountain range that surrounds Khumbu valley and high rocky hills, after a tough and exciting crossing downhill to reach west of Khumbu at the sleepy village of Thame.

Thame an interesting and quaint village with the oldest monastery of the region and worth a visit, from Thame on nice trails back into green tree lines to Namche and towards Lukla for last overnight stop.

From Lukla morning short scenic flight brings you back to hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu after a most remarkable adventure and glorious experience on Everest Three Passes Trekking.

Season for Everest Three Passes Trekking:

April and May and from September to early December months of the year, best for this trek around April and May when most days are clear for views of mountains and pleasant walks with longer sunlight hours due to spring season, where wildflowers especially rhododendron and magnolia in bloom around mid-green hills.

Next best months October to early December although cold in the morning and night time with freezing temperatures around higher hills, but with the fine clear day but sunlight hours due to autumn/fall and pre-winter season.

Lukla Flight from Manthali, Ramechhap

No more flight from Kathmandu to Lukla till 30 November 2023

From 25 September 2023 to 30 November 2023 Lukla flight is operated from Ramechhap (Manthali Airport) 133km east from Kathmandu which takes about 4 hours drive from Kathmandu to Manthali.

Note:Kathmandu to Lukla flight is possible by helicopter ride.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel.

Upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be escorted upto your hotel by All Nepal Excursion's staff and guides.On checking your rooms, getting refreshed join with other trekkers for briefing provided by our guide or leader.Evening enjoys group dinner in a nice authentic Nepalese restaurant with a live cultural program to entertain you with dinner.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 04 hrs.

We’ll board a flight to Lukla (2810m). You will be able to enjoy the beauty of splendid hills, rivers and mountains during the 30 minute flight. On reaching Lukla airport, you’ll be introduced to your porter, and served a wholesome breakfast. After that, we will head north to Phakding (2620m). It is an easy 3 hour hike through the Dudhkoshi valley. We will head north from the airstrip to Chheplung (2700m) and cross the crystal clear Thadokoshi on a locally built suspension bridge. Past the bridge, you can witness KusamKanggru (6367m), which is one of the toughest mountains to conquer. Away from the ThadoKoshi, the trail continues towards the Ghat (2590m) and we will cross a ridge marked with painted Mani stones. We will reach the beautiful tribal village of Phakding where you will stay overnight.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.

Morning on the pleasant path walking into pines and rhododendron tree lines with views of the snow-capped peak, the walk follows upstream crossing over bridges to enter Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo.

Sagarmatha Park listed in world heritage sites, the trail follows to a high bridge and climb to Namche Bazaar, a colorful large village, nearly a size of a town with many good houses serving as hotels and lodge.

At Namche Bazaar facilities of ATM, Banks, post office, Cyber Café, Trekking / Climbing shops with stores and café, bakeries, restaurants facing views of Kwangde peaks towards the south.

Day 04: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

Namche Bazaar an ideal spot for rest day and acclimatization at 3,440 meters high before heading higher elevation.  The morning after breakfast take a short walk to the top of Namche at Park headquarter area with a museum full of information regarding the Khumbu / Everest area of Sherpa religions, culture, history, mountaineering to flora and flora.

High hill of Namche offers stunning views of Amadablam, Tharmarserku, Kantega, Kwangde, Khumbila with Mt. Everest and Lhotse towards North, after an impressive morning head back to lodge for lunch with afternoon free to relax and catch up with the dairy and browse around the street of Namche, where once a week Saturday market/bazaar takes place.

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche 3,867 m - 05hrs.

Our route for today to Tengboche weaves in and out of side valleys, making small ups and downs, to the picturesque tea shops of Kenjoma, and joins the trail from Khumjung just before a collection of Mani stones. The views of Everest and Ama Dablam are excellent from this part of the trek. We pass the small settlement of Sanasa from where the trail drops towards Phunkithanga (3250m). From here the trail climbs steeply through pine forests and around Mani stones as it follows the side of a hill to the saddle on which the monastery of Tengboche sits at 3870m. The view from here is rightly deemed to be one of the world’s most magnificent sceneries. Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Amadablam, Kantega and Thamserku provide an inspiring panorama as the Himalayan giants. We will spend the night in Tengboche.

Day 06: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m - 05hrs.

We descend through a beautiful forest then cross the Imja Khola and trek through the village of Pangboche. The route continues through summer pastures to Dingboche. We will spend the night at Dingboche. It is a very relaxing village with lots of mountain views. This is very easy hike which will take about 3 to 4 hours.

Day 07: Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization and excursion.

A pleasant rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization so that all can enjoy walks to reach base camp safe and sound; from here altitude gains rapidly.

Dingboche offers views of Amadablam North Face with Island / Imjatse Peak, includes Nuptse and Lhotse mountains, a short high climb to a high ridge provides views of the world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu and Amphu Lapcha peaks.

Day 08: Trek to Chukung 4,740 m - 04 hrs.

From Dingboche walk leads to the eastern end of Imjatse valley at Chukung the last settlement of Khumbu, enclosed within high peaks of Lhotse and Island Peaks walking on the wide valley with few short ups to reach at scenic Chhukung for lunch and overnight stop.

Day 09: Trek and cross Kongma-la 5,357 m to reach Lobuche 4,930 m - 08 hrs.

We start our trekking quite early in the morning after an early breakfast. Today, as we will have quite a long and tiring day, we head directly west out of Chhukung, hike a small, rocky trail and contour around many hillsides, usually not very steeply, until we reach Pokalden Base Camp. We start at first light. As we have to conquer the highest pass of the trip today, we carry plenty of water, some snacks and a packed lunch as there are no teahouses on the way. We will really enjoy the remoteness of the area and the wonderful display of nature up here. We can choose to go via any of the possible trails – either taking a climb over the hill northwest of Chhukung over the moraine of the Nuptse Glacier or we might hike back down the valley to Bibre and follow a high trail above the Niyang Khola. After some hiking there are great views of Island peak valley and the jagged ridge of Amphu Lapcha. Ascending along the east side of Niyang Khola valley, we turn west and hike over a loppy stony trail. We enter a wide basin dotted with small frozen lakes. After a few other hills and more steep climbs; we will reach another Base Camp for Pokalden and a clear blue lake which sits just below the pass. We climb the last half an hour on a trail which is good but looks daring. It is built on the side of a cliff. We are now approaching Lobuche.

Day 10: Trek to Everest Base Camp 5,364 m and back at Gorakshep - 06 hrs.

The morning starts on a gradual path and the walk above Khumbu glacier with views of Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse and Mt. Everest, after a few hours of good walk reach Gorakshep.

Gorakshep with few nice lodges the last place facilities of overnight accommodation before Everest Base Camp; after a break walk continues to Everest Base Camp climbing over moraine to reach Everest Base Camp.

Enjoying incredible moment for an hour at base camp within Khumbu Icefall and glacier, return journey back to Gorakshep for overnight stop after achieving high lights of the trip.

Day 11: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Dzonla 4,830 m.

An early morning climb to reach the highest point of the adventure with a steep climb for few hours to the top of Kalapathar, a black rocky hill at above 5,545 meters high, offering vista of surrounding high peaks with Mt. Everest at close distance.

After an incredible moment and feeling in high spirit down to Gorakshep and continue trek towards Lobuche and then walk away from the main trail to reach a hidden area at Dzongla for the overnight stop, located beneath Cho-la pass.

Day 12: Cross Cho-la pass 5,367 m and down at Thaknak 4,750 m- 08 hrs.

Starting at early morning before the break of dawn and then with a steep climb on an icy and rocky path, after a strenuous push uphill then reaching on top Cho-la pass facing close views of Cholatse and Nirekha with Lobuche peaks.

With pleasant refreshing stop descend to Thaknak for overnight stop after a long adventure over Cho-la pass.

Day 13: Trek to Gokyo Lake 4,800 m - 04 hrs.

Morning a slow and easy gradual walk to beautiful Gokyo, the main third lake where the route leads past first and second to reach Gokyo lakes, where houses and lodges located a little above the main lake.

At Gokyo enjoy fabulous views of Cho-Oyu world sixth highest peak with another chain of mountains. Options for a hike to Gokyo Ri in the afternoon for grand super views of Cho-Oyu and Everest.

Day 14: Cross last Renjo-la pass 5,360 m to Lungdhen 4,380 m - 07 hrs.

Getting ready for the last and final pass of the adventure where walk leads by the end of Gokyo Lake to reach the base of Renjo-la, then with a steady climb for few hours to reach on scenic top of Renjo-la.

From the pass enjoy the fantastic panorama of world highest mountains from Cho-Oyu, Lhotse, and Everest with Makalu in the east with an array of peaks, after a pleasant stop head downhill over rocks and boulders past small pond of Renjo to reach our overnight stop in an isolated place at Lungdhen with few simple lodges to stay.

Day 15: Trek downhill to Thame village 3,880 m - 06 hrs.

After Lungdhen after crossing all three high passes morning descend close on the route of Tibet border that leads beyond Nangpa-la pass, while our route diverts downhill to reach past Marlung and to cross over Bhote Kosi River to reach a sleepy village of Thame.

Thame the western corner of Khumbu on route to Nangpa-la and Tashi Lapcha-la pass that leads to Rolwaling valley, at Thame with time visit the area oldest monastery of great interest.

Day 16: Trek to Namche Bazaar - 05 hrs.

We continue our trekking following the flat route and descending to our first resting place Thamo. We then head for Namche Bazaar. We descend after crossing a bridge that eventually leads us to Samde. The place offers breathtaking views. The path descends steeply to Thamo village which hosts a monastery called Khari Gompa which is a nunnery being home to some nuns and monks. After passing through a check post, we come to the world’s highest hydroelectric power station. This was built with help from Austria.

Day 17: Trek back to Lukla - 06 hrs.

A pleasant and relaxing walk as route heads back to Lukla on last day trek of the adventure, with few short climbs, brings you back to Lukla for last overnight stop around Khumbu and Everest and farewell to our loyal and friendly porters.

Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.

The flight starts early morning, transfer to Tenzing and Hillary air terminal at Lukla airport onboarding the plane a sweeping flight of 35 minutes brings you back in Kathmandu and then transfer to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 19: International departure to respective countries homeward bound.
