Overview
Langtang Helambu Trek with All Nepal Excursion leads you to beautiful and scenic country around north of Kathmandu valley, within high massive Central Himalaya around Langtang Mountain range.
Langtang Himal area Nepal’s third popular adventure destination as well for cultural and scenic country walks, where all types of people can join in this marvelous journey.
As route takes you to slow gain in altitude the only hardest bit of the adventure is crossing high Gosainkund-La Pass, where rest of the walk leads to pleasant and adventurous route around beautiful Langtang valley, holy Gosainkund and Helambu area.
On this scenic adventure enjoy magnificent views of high snow-capped mountain range that includes Langtang and Jugal Himal with Ganesh, Manaslu as far towards Annapurna in the far western horizon.
Besides lovely scenery of dramatic landscapes walk takes you around nice lovely villages which is equally interesting and fascinating soaking into local immense culture of Buddhism religion.
Langtang Helambu Trek begins with overland journey where exciting drive takes you beyond Kathmandu valley heading due north towards Langtang Himal the nearest mountain range from the capital Kathmandu.
Walk begins on entering Langtang National Park the first mountainous park ever established in the late 1970’s enriched with exotic flora and fauna and an ideal habitat for endangered Red Panda and other wild-life and rare vegetation.
Adventure heads slowly towards higher hills and River gorge covered in dense forest of tall rhododendron, oaks, and pines with bamboos which makes excellent habitats for elusive Red Panda often seen on walks.
As walk progress reaching at Kyanjin our first highlight of the journey, located on beautiful Langtang valley enclosed within series of high snow-capped peaks of Langtang Himal range in all direction with some mountain on Tibetan side.
Enjoying wonderful scenic time at Langtang valley in Kyanjin our next adventure takes you to high country at Gosainkund, the glacial pond regarded as holy where once a year in the month of August in full moon time great religious festival held.
Thousands of Hindu pilgrims visits Gosainkund for holy dip and bathe to relinquish sin of a life time and belief is that Lord Shiva created 108 ponds around Gosainkund for drink and to dilute from the deadly poison that he drank to save the world.
After mesmerizing time on spiritual site at Gosainkund a tough steep climb takes you on top the highest point of the adventure at the height of 4,609 m / 15,100 feet to cross over Gosainkund-La Pass to reach on the other sides of Langtang Himal.
A long downhill reaches you back into green vegetation and tree lines around Helambu area after being on Rasuwa district, as walk takes you to high scenic hill on top Tharepati a place for stunning Mountain panorama views.
From here enter into lovely country of Helambu in the land of Hyalmo people the indigenous and main tribe of Helambu where you can observe beautiful culture and artworks visiting around its lovely charming villages at Tarke Gyang and Sermathang.
Enjoying great wonderful time at Helambu our adventure completes from here on taking an interesting scenic drive back to Kathmandu, after a wonderful and memorable experience on Langtang and Helambu Trek.
Best season for Langtang Helambu Trek:
Langtang Helambu Trek, one can join in almost all months of the year except June to mid-September during monsoon wet-rainy months, best time from March to May during spring and pre-summer season, when days are much warmer with longer sunlight hours.
Enjoyable and scenic during spring time when wild-flowers especially rhododendron of various different species, where hills and valley are colorful with flower in full bloom.
Cold in the morning and night time around high hills, next best months from September to December during autumn / fall and winter times when days are crystal clear for views and pleasant walks.
Days are much shorter with sunlight hours due to autumn / fall and winter season.
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Reach Kathmandu via various airlines received by our guide and staff for transfer to your respective hotels in the heart of Kathmandu at Thamel, an interesting place for travelers.
After check in your rooms with time for rest and join at hotel lobby for group briefing on Langtang and Helambu Trek provide you with full information of the region, culture and trekking route as well with do’s and don’ts.
Evening group welcome dinner in authentic Nepalese Restaurants with cultural program as entertainment with the dinner.
Day 02: Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460 m via Dhunche 1,950 m - 06 hrs.
Morning depart from the hotel for exciting scenic drive that takes you beyond North of Kathmandu past many rural farm villages and town to reach at cooler Alpine hills at Dhunche.
Dhunche a large town and headquarter of Rasuwa district where Langtang National Park starts from here onward till you reach near at Kathmandu valley from here drive heads on winding downhill to reach at Syabrubesi village.
Day 03: Trek to Lama Hotel 2,350 m - 06 hrs.
Enjoying first overnight stop in the country of Tamang people the main tribe of Rasuwa district and Langtang Himal region.
Morning walks takes you to cross a bridge over Bhote Kosi of Upper Trisuli River and then climb into beautiful cool forest lined with tall rhododendron, magnolia, oaks and pine tree with some bamboo grooves.
As our trek completes for the day on reaching at a wide open area at Lama Hotel for overnight stop a place with number of good simple lodge within tranquil forest surroundings.
Day 04: Trek to Langtang village 3, 290 m - 05 hrs.
After a nice and pleasant stop at Lama Hotel, morning walk leads higher into dense forest of rhododendron and pine trees, with chance of spotting some rare wild-life like the endangered Red Panda habitats.
Slowly walk takes you into a nice place at Ghoretabela for possible lunch stop as our trek continues then leaving the dense forest on reaching a wide open area at Langtang village for overnight stop.
Langtang village and around Nepal Mid-West region was badly effected by 1915 big earthquake, the whole villages was badly damaged and slowly coming back to normal.
Day 05: Trek to Kyanjin 3,749 m - 04 hours.
Morning walk of few hours to reach our first highlight destination at Kyanjin located on beautiful Langtang valley, our route heads high above Langtang village to enter a wide open scenic valley of Langtang.
After hours of good walk enter into an amazing scenic valley where Kyanjin our overnight stop located surrounded by array of high snow-capped mountain at Kyanjin check into a nice lodge with close views of Mt. Langtang Lirung and icefall.
Day 06: Rest day for acclimatization and for hike around.
Today free for leisure hike and excursion or just relax marveling lovely scenery of high mountain backdrop, on this day take a short hike to the hill high above Kyanjin at the height of 4,700 m / 15, 420 feet, which helps and support acclimatization before heading much higher region towards Gosainkund.
Higher hills of Langtang valley and Kyanjin offers wide stunning panorama of Langtang,Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Ghengu-Liru (Langtang II) with Naya-Kanga or Ganja Chuli, includes Tilman Fluted Peak that extends towards Jugal Himal in east horizon with Dorje Lakpa peak.
Day 07: Trek to Lama Hotel - 06 hrs.
From beautiful Langtang valley and Kyanjin return journey towards our next high adventure destination towards Gosainkund, as morning heads downhill on same trail back to Lama-Hotel for overnight stop.
Day 08: Trek to Thulo Syabru 2,130 m - 06 hrs.
After a pleasant stop in the midst of dense lovely forest, morning walk takes you towards a small bridge at a small place called Bamboo, with few small huts and tea houses. From Bamboo climb takes you to a nice interesting village at Thulo Syabru which means bigger, on reaching at Thulo Syabru a typical Tamang village with interesting houses decorated with beautiful carved windows and doors.
Day 09: Trek to Sing Gompa / Chandanbari 3,254 m - 05 hrs.
From Thulo Syabru morning leads to steep climb as route heads past smaller farm houses and cattle herders camps then enter lovely forest lined with tall rhododendron and pine trees.
As climb progress higher areas along with stunning panorama of Ganesh-Himal, Manaslu, Langtang and Annapurna range in the far west horizon, after few pleasant rest stop walk on nice gradual path to reach a nice small village at Sing Gompa for overnight stop, a place with an old monastery.
Day 10: Trek to Gosainkund holy pond 4,381 m / 14, 375 feet - 05 hrs.
Enjoying pleasant overnight halt in this lovely little village Sing Gompa, morning climb above from the monastery to reach into cool shade of forest with amazing views of massive snow mountain range. Walk takes you out of forest into an open area at Laraubinaya a place with few houses and shades serving as tea-shops and lodge, from the climb starts on steep slope to reach at high ridge of Laraubinaya-la a small pass. Enjoy grand panorama of surrounding dramatic landscapes and snow peaks and then short descend taker you close to Bhairab Kund / Pond to reach our main destination at holy Gosainkund a place with glacial pond.
At Gosainkund where few lodge located near above the pond, a holy and important pilgrimage spot where thousands of Hindu worshippers visits this sacred place especially during a religious event called ‘Janai Purnima’ in the month of August. The festival changing of holy threads and taking dip and bathe in the holy water of Gosainkund.
Day 11: Trek to Ghopte 3, 560 m via Gosainkunda-La Pass 4,609 m - 07 hrs.
Today our main big day as adventure takes you above highest point at above 4, 609 m high as route takes you past few smaller icy ponds to reach on top of Gosainkund-La Pass. On top of the pass rewards you with spectacular views of beautiful country landscapes and then long downhill takes you at Phedi means bottom of the pass, a small place with few small huts serving as tea-shops.
After a pleasant refreshing rest walk continues to reach back into dense woodland of juniper, rhododendron and pine trees as journey takes you on winding long trail to Ghopte Odar for overnight stop, means overhanging rock cave.
Day 12: Trek to Tharepati 3,590 m -04 hrs.
From Ghopte onward entering into new area around Helambu, as morning starts on moderate path within forest, today a short day after a tough walk of previous day crossing Gosainkunda-La.
After a nice pleasant walk then climb high to reach our overnight stop at Tharepati, situated on a high ridge top offers marvelous scenery with views of Langtang, Jugal Himal range and Ganesh with Manaslu in the far west.
Day 13: Trek to Melamche Gaon 2, 560 m - 05 hrs.
After an enjoyable halt at Tharepati around Helambu region, morning starts with long downhill covered in dense tree lines of pines and rhododendron to reach on the bottom.
On reaching at the base of a hill from here short nice walk to Melamche-Gaon for overnight stop, with enough time to explore the village of Helambu region populated by Sherpa and Tamang with main tribes the Hyalmo people.
Day 14: Trek to Tarke Gyang 2, 580 m - 04 hrs.
Today another short morning of some hours to reach the main village of Helambu at Tarke Gyang, route leads to cross over Melamche River crossing a bridge, then with steep climb to reach Nakote village and then at Tarke-Gyang for overnight as well for lunch stop.
Tarke-Gyang, major village of Helambu mostly inhabited by the main indigenous tribe of the area the Hyalmo, interwoven with strong Buddhism religion and culture similar tradition of Sherpa and Tamang.
The area renowned for green apples as well for beautiful intricate wood carving on furniture with magnificent exotic Tibetan designs.
Afternoon with time to visit around this nice and lovely village, with its oldest Buddhist monasteries of Ama Yangri situated on top of a village.
Day 15: Trek to Sermathang 2, 610 m - 05 hrs.
After Tarke Gyang morning takes you to another lovely village of Helambu at Sermathang, a pleasant and nice walk within lovely forest with scenic views of surrounding country.
As walk progress with short downhill and uphill on route coming across Buddhist monuments known as Chorten and Stupas at Gangyul, a small village, from here few hour walk reaches you at Sermathang for overnight stop, rest of the afternoon at leisure and explore the village and its old monastery of great cultural and religious interest.
Day 16: From Sermathang drive to Kathmandu 1,345 m - 04 hrs.
From here on short walk towards a road-head where our trek complete taking a drive on local four-wheel drives or similar vehicle to reach Kathmandu, where drive takes you downhill around low sub-tropical country at farm village of Melamche Bazaar.
After Melamche Bazaar journey leads on good road with uphill to reach at scenic old Newar town at Dhulikhel, from here another hour beings you into busy hustle and bustle city life in Kathmandu.
On reaching at Kathmandu transfer to hotel with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.
Day 17: Transfer to airport for International Departure.
Depart from the hotel as per your international flight time, where our staff transfers you at Kathmandu and Nepal international airport for final departure from scenic country of high Himalayan Mountains, after great wonderful experience on Langtang and Helambu Trek.
