The North Annapurna base camp trek is a newly explored route in northern Annapurna Region of Nepal.This new trek is proposed to those who like to trek in wilderness, tented and less explored area in famous Annapurna region. This route was initially explored by the French expedition group of Mourice Herzog and Louis Lachenal during their expedition to Annapurna I(8091 M). This route is now popular as Maurice Herzog Trail or North Annapurna Base Camp Trek. This route is also called French the French North Face Route.
This trail has been popular for domestic trekkers as it has been a new route to explore and showcase the new destination. The trail is least crowded owing to its steep paths. There are no tea houses and lodges yet due to less tourists, but there are rest camp(temporary shelter) for tourists. Every trekkers doing this trek need to have their own camping equipment and food for the entire trip.
The Mourice Herzog Trail used by by Herzog for his ascent was officially recognized as the Mourice Herzog Trail in 2011 A.D. The trail from Narchyang village to the base campoffers breathtaking natural scenery. The basecamp of North ABC is 42 kilometers in total from Narchyang Village.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
Upon your arrival at Tribhuban International Airport, Kathmandu, you will be welcomed and greeted by our office representative. After then, transfer to the hotel for overnight accommodation as per booking. At evening welcome dinner with traditional Nepali Culture Show.
Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation
Today, after breakfast we start a guided tour to several historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of PashupatiNath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (BouddhaNath) which is one of the largest stupas in the world. At evening, there will be a per-trek discussion where we will meet our trek leader and other team members at the hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 3: Drive/Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara
After the morning breakfast, you will be escorted to the tourist bus park for your drive to Pokhara. The road to Pokhara is pretty good as its being built wider these days. You can also have a flight upon your choice. The exciting drive to Nepal Mid West reaching Pokhara, a renowned touristic and beautiful place of Nepal and whole Himalaya areas.
Day 4: Drive from Pokhara to Tatopani to Hum Khola
After breakfast, drive from Pokhara to Humkhola via Narchyang Village. The first 3 hours drive from Pokhara to Beni is easy and pretty good. The roads afterwards is gravelled and off road.Hum Khola is 20 km away from Narchyang. A 2-3 hours drive from Beni via Tatopani and Narchyang will take you to Hum Khola.We will also see the beautiful scenery of the Kali Gandaki River passing through valleys while we cross the river via bridge.
